The annual Festival of the Wild Geese will see Irish musicians Klonakilty and Murphy entertaining party-goers in Vilamoura

The fourth Festival of the Wild Geese – the annual Algarve festival to celebrate St Patrick’s Day – is set to take place on the night of Sunday 16 March 2008, promising an evening of musical celebration and entertainment.

Hosted by the Oceânico Group – the leading developer of quality beach, leisure and golf resorts in Portugal – the festival will take place at the clubhouse of Oceânico’s Millennium and Laguna golf courses in Vilamoura and will include live music, a buffet dinner and dancing into the early hours.

Irish musicians Klonakilty, a Celtic-inspired duo based in the Algarve, will entertain guests with a unique blend of Irish ballads and international songs, while Murphy from County Clare will perform a mix of 60s and 70s pop classics, together with Irish and acoustic rock to complete the evening’s entertainment.

Tickets are now on sale, priced at €55 per person, the tickets include a buffet dinner and entertainment throughout the evening.

Guests can also choose to book accommodation with Oceânico Resorts & Leisure. The four-star Jardim da Meia Praia resort near Lagos, about 45 minutes from Vilamoura, has seven nights self-catering in a three-bedroom townhouse available from £97 per person over the St Patrick’s weekend.

Facilities at Jardim da Meia Praia include a swimming pool, tennis court and the Destino restaurant. Short breaks are also available at the resort, from £42 per person for three nights. Prices are based on six people sharing – two bedroom townhouses are also available.

Alternatively, guests can choose to stay at the Estrela da Luz resort in Praia da Luz. Situated just 200m from the beach the resort has two outdoor swimming pools, an indoor pool, sauna, Jacuzzi and a state of the art gymnasium, while Estrela Health & Beauty offers a range of spa treatments.

Seven nights accommodation at Estrela da Luz starts from £117 per person in March, based on six people sharing a three-bedroom apartment. Short breaks of two nights or more are also available, with prices starting from £34 per person based on six sharing.

Guests at both resorts can take advantage of free bus transfers to and from the festival.
