From passing to dribbling and shooting, kids can improve their football skills this summer with the help of ex–Liverpool hero John Aldridge

With two English teams heading to the European Cup final, what better time to help your kids top up their footballing skills than on a course designed by Liverpool football legend John Aldridge, whose career spanned 882 appearances and 474 goals.
Taking place in the Algarve each three–day Soccer School combines a fun atmosphere with great tips to help boys and girls, aged 6 – 15, improve their football skills. The next course kicks off during the May half term, with regular courses held throughout the summer holidays.
Ron Price, an FA qualified coach, will run the courses together with a team of experienced trainers, and John Aldridge will take part in the schools whenever possible. Ron has spent the last three years coaching in the Algarve and has many years experience of training youth teams in the UK.
Tuition is tailored for all skill levels, covering everything from shooting and dribbling to defending and heading.
The course costs £58 per child, including all tuition, a t–shirt, refreshments and attendance at the prize giving event (together with parents). Each course includes two and a half hours coaching per day, Monday to Wednesday.
While the children are working on improving their soccer skills, parents can relax at one of Oceânico’s four–star resorts – Estrela da Luz in Praia da Luz, where the courses are held, is close to the beach and has indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a state of the art gym, the Hugo Beaty Bar & Café, and Estrela Health & Beauty; Vila Baia, also in Praia da Luz, features two swimming pools, an Italian themed restaurant and children’s playground; or Jardim da Meia Praia near Lagos, which offers a choice of apartments and townhouses, with an outdoor pool, tennis court and the Destino restaurant.
Prices for a one–week stay at Estrela da Luz start from £209 per person in June 2008, based on six people sharing a three–bedroom apartment – one and two bedroom apartments are also available.
Flights to Faro are not included, but are available with airlines including Monarch (www.flymonarch.com) and Jet2 (www.jet2.com). Car hire or taxi transfers to and from Faro airport can be arranged through Oceânico Resorts.
